Garrido didn’t want Rubin

Juan Carlos Garrido has reflected that Rubin Kazan ‘are not the team I would have liked’ Real Betis to have drawn in the Europa League.

Los Beticos will face the Russian outfit in this year’s Round of 32 of the competition following Monday’s draw, with the prospect of a potential Last 16 Seville derby on the cards.

“My assessment of the draw is that at this moment the Europa League does not resume until February,” Garrido has reacted.

“There remains much to do. The important thing now is to focus on the League.

“We have been drawn against a very strong rival, with a great distance to travel. They are not the team that I would have liked, but we will be playing them.

“When the time comes, we will try to win the game. It is an exciting competition, but for now we postpone it until February.

“When February comes, we will think about winning the game.”
