Simeone: I always want more

Diego Simeone mused on Atletico Madrid’s second-half improvement against Valencia and explained how it still wasn’t as satisfying as it could be.

Los Colchoneros responded to a strong performance in the first half of Week 16’s League meeting at home to Los Che to push them aside with three second half goals, two from Diego Costa, who also missed a penalty, and one in between from Raul Garcia.

“In the first half, Valencia had the ball. We took time to recover possession and attack between the lines,” surmised Simeone afterwards on the difficult first 45.

“Our lines were separated and we spoke about that half-time and then the team came together. The goal opened the way and the second half was very good.

“My action on the sidelines when 3-0 up? I want to win and always want more. I dislike passivity.”

Atleti have the best numbers in their history, but are sharing the lead with Barcelona.

“Why aren’t we top? Because Barca are, who have spent a decade with incredible numbers. They do not have Messi but they do not suffer. It is very difficult to keep up with them.”
