Tata Martino says he is surprised to see reports that Carles Puyol may retire at the end of the season, as ‘he has not spoken to me’ about it.
Reports over the weekend suggested that the veteran was considering hanging up his boots at the end of the campaign, if by then he has not resolved a so-far problematic recovery from knee surgery.
However, his Coach, speaking at today’s Press conference, has reflected that the defender hasn’t spoken to him on this topic.
“It is a surprise to me because he has not spoken to me,” Martino has told reporters today.
“I have seen him training normally and putting in the effort in training as required.
“He has not said anything to me about this and to clarify something that has not been discussed is a little unfair.
“Puyol has not spoken to me about that.”
