Unai Emery reflected on the value a draw to Athletic Bilbao could have for Sevilla, even as it ends their winning run.
Los Nervionenses played out a 1-1 result with Athletic on Sunday evening, thanks to very early goals from Albero Moreno and Markel Susaeta, with Susaeta then missing a penalty on the stroke of half-time.
“I am happy because the team is progressing,” considered Emery after the result.
“I do not think that the draw takes away from our self-esteem. It must serve us to be able to overcome similar situations in the future. The most important thing is that the team is competing.
“For three consecutive wins beforehand, the feeling is that the team has failed here, but we have encountered a great opponent in front of us.
“The work-rate of the players has been high, but it was not enough for the virtues of Athletic.”
