Garrido: I know Betis can improve

Juan Carlos Garrido praised his Real Betis players’ efforts against Rijeka, but has determined that there is room for improvement.

Los Beticos played out a goalless draw at home to their Croatian opponents, to finish Group I of the Europa League in second place behind Lyon.

“The result is the first aspect with which to assess a game. We cannot be happy because we have not won the game,” reflected Garrido afterwards.

“I recognise by all the great effort put in to win. There has been a lot of development to reach the goal, but we have lacked the precision to finish plays and needed to create more chances.

“We have had a lot of inaccuracy in the final stretch. It is fair to say, though, that the players have given everything to win the game.

“Yes I see room for improvement. I see the technical inaccuracies of the players and know that they have greater technical qualities than we see in these actions.

“When you feel confident to do the best that you know, these inaccuracies will leave. We must begin to accept the situation as it is, to understand that the real enemy is the position in the table [last].

“We must begin to fight and work to our best to win games.”
