‘Madrid haven’t asked after Inigo’

Jokin Aperribay has made clear that Real Sociedad have not received any indications from Real Madrid of interest in Inigo Martinez.

Last week saw rumours emerge that Madrid were preparing a summer 2014 move for the 22-year-old centre-back, whilst Real’s sporting director Loren followed up by saying there had been ‘indications’ of interest.

However, the San Sebastian side’s President has affirmed that this is not the case and that contrary to initial rumours, he has not met with Madrid counterpart Florentino Perez to hear of his interest.

“Madrid have not enquired to us about Inigo Martinez,” Aperribay has told reporters this week.

“So I hope that it is just a rumour and that he will continue with us for next season.

“My desire is that no player will leave La Real because what we are trying to do is find a team and maintain a structure.

“We are very hopeful that the team can stay as it is for next season and that we can even strengthen it with new signings.”
