‘Beating Barca ideal end to 2013’

Manu Trigueros has reflected that a win for Villarreal at Barcelona this weekend would be the ‘ideal conclusion’ to 2013.

The Yellow Submarine head out to the Camp Nou on Saturday evening sat fifth on their return to La Liga.

The weekend’s match also holds significance for midfielder Trigueros, who spent the 2007-08 season at La Masia, but then opted to leave.

“Playing in Barcelona is very complicated and that year I played very little,” the 22-year-old has reflected this week to AS.

“They offered me the chance to continue, but I wanted to play and saw that as unclear there. I left them to go on loan to Murcia and I did not think about it.

“Life is not just Barcelona and Madrid, there are other options.

“Am I after revenge now? No, no. I do not have any complaints about Barcelona. It is a big club, I was treated very well and the experience at La Masia was spectacular.

“[The weekend’s game] is very special for me and for everyone. They are a great opponent, it is a great stadium with a great atmosphere, it has it all.

“If we were to win there then it would be the ideal conclusion to 2013. This year has been just the best for me and for many of us and a win like that, it would be great.

“I have never played there, but what I do know is, my window faced the Camp Nou.”
