Diego Simeone praised his Atletico Madrid side’s commitment as they beat Sant Andreu 4-0 on Saturday.
The capital club eased past their lower-league opponents in the Copa del Rey yesterday, and the Coach has admitted he was delighted with his team’s attitude.
“The result was fantastic but above all, I was very pleased with the players’ attitude – they treated this game, a Cup tie, with the amount of respect it deserves,” he told a Press conference.
“We knew that these early round ties in the Copa del Rey can be complicated and the best thing about our performance was the way we planned the game, the way the team went out to play, regardless of the goals we scored.
“The team's level of commitment is very good.”
Raul Garcia and Arda Turan scored three of the goals, something that pleased Simeone.
“Every team needs to score to win a match and if a few different members of the team are capable of finding the net that is only to the benefit of the team.
“Today, Raúl [García] scored once again, Arda grabbed a couple and that put us in a good position.”
