Hodgson admits it will be tough

Roy Hodgson has conceded England have a ‘tough group’ for next summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

The England boss saw his country drawn against Costa Rica, Uruguay and Italy in Group D and he did not hide the fact it was going to be difficult, particularly against the Italians.

“It’s a tough group, there’s no doubt about that. Italy were unlucky not to be seeded and we know how good they are,” he told the BBC

“It might be a good thing that we know each other. You’re always hoping for a good group but there aren’t many scenarios where you are jumping for joy.

“You don’t win football matches on paper though. It’s 11 against 11, so if we’re well prepared then I believe we can win all the games.”
