Valero maintains Spain hope

Borja Valero has admitted that he remains hopeful that form in Italy will attract Vicente del Bosque’s attention for the World Cup.

The former Villarreal midfielder is continuing to impress with his work in Serie A with Fiorentina and, following a brace for La Viola against Verona on Monday night, was asked of his international hopes.

“If I get a call to the national team then I’ll be happy, otherwise peace,” Valero responded to Sky Sport Italia.

“There is always hope because to play in a World Cup would be something unique.

“I know it will be quite difficult for me, but a call would be very satisfying.”
