Barcelona defender Carles Puyol yesterday had to undergo a procedure to drain excess fluid from his right knee.
The veteran has recently returned to first team action for the Catalans after an extensive spell on the sidelines recovering from successive procedures on the same joint, one in March and another over the summer.
Otherwise expected to take part for Barca in their Week 15 trip to Athletic Bilbao, Puyol had to pull out as the joint flared up.
AS report that on from that, the defender attended an out-patients clinic on Monday where he underwent a procedure to drain excess fluid from the knee.
Puyol was expected to attend the League’s annual awards ceremony that same evening, but did not.
