Thibaut Courtois has reflected that it is too early for Atletico Madrid to be thinking about possibly winning the Spanish League title.
Atleti are joint leaders of La Liga after Week 15, when their 2-0 win at Elche on Saturday was followed the next day with Barcelona’s defeat at Athletic Bilbao.
However, for their on-loan Belgian international goalkeeper, it is too soon to be considering lifting the title.
“Not yet, we cannot start to think about winning the League,” Courtois has told reporters today.
“If come the final five games of the season we are there, then yes, we can think consider it. From now there is still a long way to go.
“We are continuing game by game, as we have been, always the same. We know that it is always difficult to win away from home, so the three points at Elche [this weekend] are very good.
“Is La Liga boring? I do not think so. There are three teams fighting at the top. Everybody plays well, Elche put us under pressure. There are more than just those three teams.
“Both Barcelona and Real Madrid are very good teams that are playing well. Barca will find it a little harder than Madrid to win the League.”
