Athletic are special says Schuster

Bernd Schuster has described Athletic Bilbao as “a special opponent” and a club that “never changes its philosophy”.

The German’s Malaga team take on the Basques at La Rosaleda on Monday night, but he rejects claims his players are under more pressure because they are close to the relegation zone.

“We need to win this game and have prepared for it in every detail, so I hope to see the best version of my team. I want a mix of attacking and defensive play, as we sometimes lose this balance,” he told a Press conference.

“Athletic are a special opponent that never changes its philosophy. If we let them play then they are capable of doing anything and have players that can make things difficult

“Right now Malaga are a team under improvement and we want to be an assured side that knows what it is doing,” explained Schuster, who was asked who will replace the suspended Jesus Gamez at right-back.

“The natural replacement is Marcos Angeleri and he will step in. It’s his position, although he will miss playing in central defence,” he replied.
