‘I’ve got some great memories’

Bernd Schuster admitted he’ll have some great memories of Malaga, after they won in his final game in charge.

A Francisco Portillo goal was enough to give the Costa del Sol outfit a 1-0 win over Levante on Friday, to leave them with 46 points at the end of the campaign.

And the German Coach, who has already revealed he will leave after just one year, has conceded that it’s been a great experience at La Rosaleda.

“I’ve got some great memories from my time here,” he told a Press conference.

“It’s been a great year working with these players. We’ve enjoyed some wonderful moments, been through tough times and watched the team improve – that’s the name of the game.  T

“he best part was in the second round of the League competition when we had the right team to ensure we secured a place in the First Division – the starting-11 which we didn’t have in the first round.

“I would have liked to have won more home games, as it was a shame we lost at times, even though we played well.

“Of course I’m sorry it’s come to an end, but I’m leaving here pleased with what we’ve achieved.

“We really did work hard all season, and that hard work won’t just stop, it’s important to keep moving forward.

“That’s life, but I’m OK.  I’m going away a happy man.”
