Vela: Today was a good day

Carlos Vela mused that ‘today was a good day’ for him, after scoring four times to help Real Sociedad overcome Celta Vigo.

The Mexican opened the scoring for La Real on Saturday afternoon at home to Luis Enrique’s side, before Celta responded with Rafinha’s double either side of Alex Lopez’s effort.

However, Vela netted three times more, whilst Andreu Fontas was sent off for the Galicians, to hand Real a 4-3 victory at Anoeta.

“It was a tough game, which we were put in trouble during when Celta had their advantage, but the team fought to the end and managed to turn it around,” enthused Vela post-match.

“I’m very happy because we continue to add points and move up the table. We need to maintain this.

“You work every game to help the team as much as possible and today was a great day for me. Also, luckily, my goals have helped the team to achieve victory, because if not then it would have been a sour taste.

“So, I’m very happy, and with the effort that has been made and how everything turned out to be a nice day for me.

“I have to enjoy it, but tomorrow I am working again and thinking about the next game because we have to keep going.”
