Vitolo wary of Ruben Castro threat

Sevilla winger Vitolo has warned of the threat posed by Real Betis striker Ruben Castro in Sunday’s derby at the Sanchez Pizjuan.

Castro is hoping to be fit for the clash after featuring in just one La Liga game this term, but Vitolo is under no illusions how dangerous his fellow Gran Canarian can be if he makes the starting line-up.

“He is their star player and, although he has not been fit, if he does play then he will be a great threat, but we have a defence capable of stopping him.

“It’s obvious this is a massive game and it will be very special, because although they are down at the bottom they will be fighting to the death,” the former Las Palmas player told a Press conference.

“If you win a derby many fans will adore you but if you lose then you’ll be remembered forever. But we are professionals and owe it to everyone to go out there and give everything to win.

“For many of us it will be our first derby and I hope we can bring our fans some joy.”

Vitolo also commented on teammate Diego Perotti, who has come in for some abuse from Sevilla fans in recent weeks.

“I’ll defend him to the death because he’s been here a few years during which he has always done very well.

“To us he is always the same, training with a lot of enthusiasm and fighting for the team,” he explained.
