Barcelona have confirmed that Victor Valdes will miss up to six weeks of action having suffered an injury playing for Spain yesterday.
The Spanish Football Federation reported after seeing the goalkeeper forced off for La Roja against South Africa that he had suffered a torn calf muscle.
Tests back at Barcelona have today confirmed this, with the goalkeeper’s club reporting on their website that Valdes now faces a period of around six weeks on the sidelines.
The injury is likely to see Valdes miss Barcelona’s remaining League, Cup and European fixtures of the calendar year, with a provisional return against Elche in January in view.
