‘My priority is Espanyol’

Hector Moreno has downplayed rumours linking him with an exit from Espanyol, asserting he is only focused on trying to reverse their current situation.

Rumours have been in recent weeks that Los Pericos are willing to depart with the Mexican international this winter break amid reported interest from a number of clubs, particularly those based in the Premier League.

However, the player himself says his mind is only on helping to change Espanyol’s current run of form in La Liga, which saw them go into this current international break with just four points collected from the last 24 available.

“The transfer speculation is just words and is an external case. I am not distracted from my priority, which is Espanyol, and nor do I care,” Moreno has told reporters today.

“Our form? We started well and now we are struggling a little in front of goal, whilst we have presented chances to opponents that Kiko Casilla has been able to do little about.

“We have lacked a bit of intensity and more focus in specific plays. Now we are working to correct these errors and mistakes and to return to where we started.

“During the break we have worked and hope to return at Vallecas [on Sunday against Rayo Vallecano] with a good result.

“Right now, any team will suffer without intensity to their game. That was our label and our DNA.”
