‘Malaga can get out of this’

Sergi Darder has expressed his confidence that Malaga can play themselves out of the difficult situation they are currently in.

The Costa del Sol outfit have spent the November international break just a point above the relegation zone as a consequence of a recent dip in form.

However, their young midfield talent believes that under Bernd Schuster they can improve matters.

“Teams go through good and bad patches, but it’s crucial now that we work as hard as we can to improve,” Darder has commented to reporters today.

“We are capable of getting out of our current situation. It’s not a psychological problem, we’re a very close-knit team.

“We need to regain the same level of intensity we had at the start of the season. We’re working hard and are a very tight group, which is crucial in order to move forward.

“[Week 14 opponents] Athletic are good all-rounders who manage the ball well and are very dangerous upfront.”

Darder is back with Malaga after spending the international break with the Spain Under-21s.

“It was an absolute pleasure to be part of the team. It really boosted my confidence and is a big motivation to keep working hard.

“This is turning out to be an unforgettable season for me, thanks to the club’s faith in me as a player.

“I’m only thinking about the match against Athletic now, and keeping the three points at home.”
