‘I’d give a year’s wages to go to Brazil’

Sevilla full-back Alberto Moreno has revealed that he would give up ‘a year’s wages’ to make the World Cup squad.

The youngster played in La Roja’s 2-1 win over Equatorial Guinea on Saturday evening, and has claimed that he is desperate to go to Brazil next summer.

“What would I give up to go to the World Cup? A whole year’s wages!” he told Marca.

“I’d give as much money was needed.

“No, I prefer not to [make any plans for next summer]. If I end up going to the World Cup finals I'd cancel holidays three years in a row.”

Moreno then reflected on what his fondest memories was in his brief career.

“In Israel when we won the European Under-21 Championship, I got a Whatsapp message from a number that wasn't in my contacts.

“It was Jordi Alba. I'd never exchanged one word with him and I don't know how he got my number. We talked for quite a while and I really enjoyed that; he is a great guy.”
