Valencia are reportedly set to promote academy director Rufete to overseeing sports management at the club at a senior level.
On from removing Braulio Vazquez as sporting director last week, President Amadeo Salvo has commented on his desire for a ‘structural change’ of how Los Che are run behind the scenes.
Reports are that Salvo favours a move towards a group management structure of the club’s sporting decisions, to mirror the new approach taken at academy level since the summer.
Rufete, who was appointed to oversee that structural development at youth level, is reportedly now in line to expand his role of general manager to include the senior level as well.
Superdeporte suggest that this was the option discussed at Monday’s board meeting and that an offer to the former Malaga, Valencia and Espanyol winger will be forthcoming this week.
