Spain to unveil World Cup kit

Spain will this week present their new home kit to be worn at next summer’s World Cup, with the manufacturers promising a red and gold design.

La Roja will head out to Brazil 2014 as defending champions next year and in tribute to their recent run of success, which has included two European Championships also, Adidas have confirmed that gold has been incorporated into the team’s new kit design.

Leaked images indicate that the team will be adopting an all red design across the shirt, shorts and socks, in a move away from the tradition of blue shorts, with the gold adopted for lining and details throughout.

“The gold signifies victory and the red represents passion,” Adidas’ statement reads today, teasing the new design.

“These colours are a tribute to the golden age of Spanish football over the last five years, where they have won the World Cup and two European Championships, and various individual awards.”

Wednesday afternoon will see Vicente del Bosque and members of the playing squad present the new design to the public at Teatro Compac in Madrid.
