Ander Iturraspe says that expectations around Athletic Bilbao’s have seen what they have achieved so far go underappreciated.
The Basque Country outfit have bounced back from a difficult season last term under Marcelo Bielsa to head into this November’s international break in fifth place in the table, a point behind the final Champions League qualification spot.
For Iturraspe, though, this has not been duly acknowledged outside of the dressing room.
“It is funny. It is true that we can play better, but we have shown that as a team we are competitive and can play well during difficult moments,” considered the 24-year-old today.
“I believe that this has not been valued enough.
“I understand that at Athletic the demands are the greatest, but we must take into account that as the group competes well and is winning games that last year we did not.
“In football today it is very difficult and so we deserve much credit.”
