Athletic Bilbao’s Ander Iturraspe believes his side have all the necessary quality to achieve their goals this season.
The Basque outfit finished last term in seventh place in La Liga, while they also reached the Copa del Rey final and played in the Champions League.
“We are players who have shown a lot, playing in the Champions League and getting to finals,” 26-year-old Iturraspe told reporters today.
“We know the level we can play at and I think we have the squad to do important things.”
The defensive midfielder was also asked about Athletic’s preparations for the new season, which will begin on 30 July with a Europa League qualifier.
“The preparation is designed to reach the first qualifier and the start of the League in good shape, which is very important.”
Finally, Iturraspe admitted it would be difficult for his side to beat Barcelona to the Spanish Super Cup next month.
“We know it is difficult, but we are very excited to achieve it. We will fight for it and if we win it we will celebrate it as is right.”
