Schalke consider Casillas bid

Schalke are reportedly weighing up their chances of taking Iker Casillas away from Real Madrid in the winter transfer window.

Los Blancos’ captain has been generally confined to the bench for the calendar year behind Diego Lopez.

Whilst Carlo Ancelotti has used the Spain regular as Madrid’s first-choice between the sticks in the Champions League, the goalkeeper has made clear that his future may be up for consideration come January.

Schalke, who previously picked up Raul Gonzalez when he left the Santiago Bernabeu in 2010, are believed to be monitoring the situation.

Bild report that the Bundesliga outfit are willing to propose an initial six-month loan deal for the 32-year-old, to offer him the minutes he may want in the run-up to the World Cup and then allow him to return to the Spanish capital in the summer to fully resolve his future there.
