Speculation is that Tata Martino will revert to using Marc Bartra and Carles Puyol in defence for the weekend trip to Real Betis.
The pair started Week 11’s match at Celta Vigo together, before dropping back out for Gerard Pique and Javier Mascherano to run through Barca’s meetings with Espanyol and Milan since.
However, Pique is a doubt for this weekend’s trip out to the Benito Villamarin and Mundo Deportivo assert that Mascherano will be rested in favour of Puyol and Bartra starting in the centre of defence.
Club captain Puyol is continuing his recovery to full fitness after several months out following two lots of knee surgery since March.
