Bernd Schuster praised his Malaga side for their attitude in defeating Real Betis 3-2 on Sunday evening.
Week 12’s fixture saw the Anchovies twice pegged back by Los Beticos, before a stoppage time winner from Samuel Garcia earned the result and the points.
“We were determined to win this home game by any means necessary,” mused Schuster post-match.
“It was also a well-deserved victory in what was a very difficult match. It was tough for us to find the goal, and the referee made several decisions in favour of the rival with worrying ease.
“Despite everything we maintained our control, and I’m extremely pleased with the result as we really deserved this win.
“It was a crazy, tough game to overcome, which is often the case against teams like Betis. The reason I’m so happy with the result is because we overcame every difficulty and still won the match.
“We always select the best line-up we can for every match. We played well in Barcelona, which is why I didn’t want to change the formation.
“I was certain that Samu and Juanmi were going to get an opportunity tonight and they supported the team well. However there’s still a lot of work to be done, and it’s going to be a long road ahead.”
