‘We need to improve our finishing’

Malaga boss Bernd Schuster is confident that his side can find their goalscoring touch against Real Betis this evening.

The Costa del Sol outfit host the Verdiblancos looking for the three points that would take them up to 12th in the table.

And the German tactician has insisted that his team will start finding the back of the net more regularly.

“We created scoring opportunities in our last game against Espanyol,” he told a Press conference.

“We need to improve on our finishing touches to ensure we find the target.  We’ve made some changes to the line-up, and we’re hoping to end the week on a high with a win.

“I’ve haven’t noticed any nerves amongst the team this week.  We’ve been trying to eradicate the anxiety which has been prevalent in recent matches.

“I think we got a little complacent and thought certain games were going to be easier than they were.  Firstly, the team needs to work hard to better the other teams, and focus on the finer details, which is all part of the learning curve.

“We really need the fans’ support, now more than ever. I’d rather have a bad run of results now than later on in the season.

“The team needs to work extremely hard now, which is tough after last year. The fans know what we need to do, and all we ask from them is to have a little patience. I’m convinced we’ll put on a strong performance against Betis.

“We’ve still got a few issues with certain positions on the pitch. There are still some players who haven’t earned their place as yet.

“Competition for a place on the team is tight, and we need the best out there.  It’s crucial we find the perfect line-up as soon as possible, but it’s up to the players to perform as well as they can.

“At the moment, Camacho is an example of what I was talking about before.  We’ve got Tissone and Darder in the line-up which is a surprise to many, but there’s a healthy competition between the two.”
