Canales: Win the next four

Sergio Canales has urged Valencia to win their next four fixtures in La Liga and Europe before the November international break.

Los Che currently sit 11th in La Liga after a 4-1 defeat on Sunday at Villarreal, a position that has their creative midfielder eyeing maximum points for a turnaround in fortune.

“It is clear that we are not happy with where we currently are, but within 48 hours there is another game and we must take the positives,” urged Canales to reporters today.

“We must go to win against Almeria, and these four games we face before the November international break are critical, as we have to win.

“Right now the team’s goal is to find continuity, which is important in trying to reach the Champions League.

“That is increasingly difficult to qualify for because there are strong teams in contention. We have to move forward in the game against Almeria, so as to avoid falling further behind.

“I am no-one to say how we should or should not play, that is something for the team and is internal. It is clear that we need to improve a lot and change from the Villarreal match. On Wednesday there is another important game and we must now focus on Almeria.

“Are we struggling to understand Djukic’s tactics? Communication is important, we have it in the dressing room and try to translate it on to the field.

“To reach the Champions League positions, we must find a greater regularity than we are experiencing at the moment.

“What we need is to be clear from the start, from the first minute, so as to win. We must take an example from the Europa League, where we have seen some good performances and found some consistency.

“Individually? It was a tough game against Villarreal, it can be said that no-one played well, we are hurt by how things turned out.

“There is not a lack of attitude, though, because we always go out to win. On the individual aspect, there is little that I can say.”
