‘Valencia need to correct mistakes’

Jeremy Mathieu has downplayed Valencia’s defeat to Real Sociedad at the weekend, stating his belief that ‘the team are good’.

Los Che had set in recent weeks at turning around a poor start to the season with a decent run of results, but fell to a 2-1 reverse at home to La Real in Week 9.

Even so, their French centre-back does not see this as a signal for moving back into crisis.

“I did not see the team do poorly, we just lacked the final pass. Now we need to move forward,” Mathieu commented to reporters today.

“The team is calm and we know that losing at home is hard, but we have to return to as we were before.

“The team is good, in the game against Real Sociedad I saw them as well, but Real Sociedad attacked two or three times on the counter-attack and scored twice.

“The team is good, we just have to correct the mistakes.

“We are under construction as a team and we can go wrong. We believe, though, that if we play as we have in the last few games, we will be up there in the table.”
