Simeone: Records not important

Diego Simeone has insisted that he is not preoccupied by records, as Atletico Madrid prepare to face Espanyol.

The capital club go to Cornelia-El Prat this weekend looking to maintain their 100 per cent start in the League.

But the Argentine Coach has claimed that he is just focusing on claiming three points, not writing their names in the record books.

“We know that the records are not decisive,” he told a Press conference. “The only thing that concerns we is the game tomorrow.

“Espanyol are a tough opponent and are playing the way their Coach wants them to. They’ve shifted styles and a starting well.

“I imagine it’ll be a tough game against a team that will press us hard.”

Simeone then commented on Diego Costa’s international future, insisting that the striker is just focusing on playing well for his club.

“This is just a part of football. He can’t worry about all this. Diego isn’t constantly thinking about what’s being written in the papers.

“He is working well, and that’s the most important thing. “
