Emery: Sevilla must improve, but…

Unai Emery has acknowledged the expectancy on Sevilla to improve, but says it is one the dressing room places on themselves, whilst talk of ‘failure’ is ‘hasty’.

Los Nervionenses have endured an indifferent start to the League season and travel out to Real Valladolid on Sunday evening sat 11th in the table, with just two wins to their name.

However, with an unbeaten run of three games to continue on from before the international break, their Coach is keen to lift some of the burden.

“We know our responsibility and no-one needs to remind us. This demand we have on ourselves is automatic as we are Sevilla,” commented Emery today to reporters.

“We know there are aspects to improve, but there are things that we have done well and that we must reinforce.

“We have to improve the team in both aspects of the game, and for the table. But that should not be for pressure, but as a requirement.

“Speaking of failure would be too hasty. We must go further, believing in what we do and in this squad.

“We want to find some consistency in the squad and to be more consistent. Perhaps with the prompt start in the Europa League we have left ourselves depleted in the League. But we are working on it.

“We have to do things better. If we can, the team will take a positive dynamic in terms of certain aspects of the game and our results.

“There are many things to improve, but we must also reinforce what has been done well.”
