Tello: I have to be patient

Cristian Tello has acknowledged that he will have to be patient for playing time at Barcelona and he will only consider his future next summer.

The winger signed a new contract in the summer, but hinted recently that he may have to leave the Catalans in the near future to gain regular playing time.

However, in considering his situation further, the 22-year-old knows that there is still time for him to break into the side.

“I cannot be entirely happy, as for that I should have played more,” mused Tello to COPE this week.

“But I am aware that we have a very competitive front-line, with the best players in the world, and I have to wait.

“The Coach asked me early on to be calm if I did not play the minutes I had hoped for and to continue working in the same way.

“Could I have left in the summer? I do not know what could have been. Yes I know that there was interest from other clubs but from the first moment I have always want to stay.

“The Coach has given me confidence and I’m very happy for being here. At no time have I considered leaving.

“But in the future? At the end of the season we will assess how things have gone and will see if I have to go out on loan or whatever.

“The Coach will have to decide if he will want to count on me.”
