Madrid covered by Bale insurance

Real Madrid are covered for any potential injury suffered by Gareth Bale, according to El Confidencial.

In the event the Welshman suffered serious injury, it is reported Los Blancos would receive compensation of €91m – the amount, although it has not been made official, the club paid when they signed the midfielder from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

The newspaper claims the insurance paid by the Spanish giants is normal in this type of transaction and amounts to around €4.5m for the season to avoid any kind of setback.

It does, however, only cover medium and long term injuries and the last time Madrid used it was for a knee injury left-back Marcelo picked up when he was on international duty with Brazil.
