Bale agent hits out at Marca

Gareth Bale’s agent has hit out at newspaper Marca for reporting that the Real Madrid winger had a slipped disc in his back.

The Madrid-based paper claimed on Saturday that the Wales international had suffered a slipped disc that was picked up in his medical – but President Florentino Perez urged for the deal to be done anyway.

“I spoke to a reporter from Marca, I told him: ‘It’s complete rubbish', and yet they still print it. Whatever they say is a lie. How stupid and irresponsible of Marca to have run such a stupid story!,” Jonathan Barnett told La Sexta.

“He passed the medical, he’s 100 per cent fit, there’s no problem.

“He’s the most expensive transfer in history, if there was a problem, they would have stopped the transfer.

“There is no problem, he has a slight tear in his thigh, he’ll be fit to play hopefully after the internationals.

“He’s back training normally and he’ll be playing in the next few days. It’s up to Ancelotti when he plays, but he will play, he’ll be fit to play.

“Gareth’s angry not sad, he’s angry that a newspaper can write such rubbish.

“We won’t be speaking to anybody else about this one story and we will never speak about it ever again, it’s complete rubbish.

“He’s very confident that once he starts to play in the next week or so that we’ll start to see the Gareth Bale, no injuries, no nothing.”
