Negredo: Goal for Maria de Villota

Alvaro Negredo has dedicated his goal for Spain on Friday to Maria de Villota, the formula one test driver who passed away yesterday.

The Spanish Marussia driver was found dead in her hotel room on Friday, and the striker has claimed that his strike in the 2-1 win over Belarus was in memory of the 33-year-old.

“My goal is dedicated to María de Villota,” he told reporters.

“It's a sad day for all of her family and she deserves this dedication.

“I did not know her but it has been an example of overcoming.”

Negredo then commented on the fact that he was initially overlooked in the starting XI for Michu.

"I'm very happy, trying to make the most of the chances I get but the most important thing is winning."

We all want to play, we have that excitement.

“Today he went for Michu, another day he goes with me."
