Michu made his debut for Spain last night in their 2-1 win over Belarus, and the striker as thanked Coach Vicente Del Bosque.
The Swansea forward has given the nod ahead of Alvaro Negredo on Friday evening as La Roja overcame the Eastern Europeans in Mallorca.
“I am very pleased and very grateful,” he told reporters after the game.
“I appreciate the confidence that the Coach has given me.”
