Pedro: We won’t be relaxed

Pedro Rodriguez has determined that Spain will not be complacent or relaxed in facing Belarus this Friday.

La Roja head into Friday’s World Cup qualifier in Mallorca top of Group I and off the back of a 4-0 win in Minsk in the reverse fixture, thanks in part to a hat-trick from Pedro.

“It was a special game, very nice, I scored three goals, but I have had games with the national team where we have achieved greater things,” considered the Barcelona forward today.

“Now this is another game, we will face it with great motivation and will try to win.

“We know thanks to Finland that any team is capable of causing us problems, so we will not be complacent, there will be no relaxation.”

The forward was asked of the prospect of teaming up for La Roja with Diego Costa in the future.

“He is a great player, he is demonstrating as much this year and he has in other seasons. It is a choice for the Coach and we will welcome him.”

Speculation is that the Spanish Football Federation intend to renew Vicente del Bosque’s contract by a further two years to 2016.

“If I were in charge, I would like him to continue for many years, he has achieved much success with us, he is a good person and our level can be maintained as there are very good players coming through.”
