Puyol pencils in Osasuna return

Carles Puyol has targeted next weeks’ game at Osasuna for his return to Barcelona’s first-team squad.

According to Marca, the Spain international faces a decisive week in his bid to put behind him a series of career-threatening injuries, but should be given the green light to travel to Pamplona with the rest of Tata Martino’s men.

The Barca captain played his last match almost seven months ago and leaves behind an ordeal that has seen him bounce back from 36 injuries, which have led to him needing surgery on seven occasions.

Puyol’s latest setback came after he was plagued by pain in his right knee, a condition that was then complicated by a Baker’s cyst which had to be removed.
