Tello: No issues with referee

Cristian Tello has given his view on Sevilla’s frustration at the referee during the weekend, and reflected on his role Barcelona right now.

The winger started Barca’s 3-2 win over Sevilla at the Camp Nou on Saturday evening, a game that left the visitors complaining afterwards of a goal disallowed for Juan Cala.

Fernando Navarro was vocal in his complaints post-match, labelling the decision to whistle against Cala’s headed effort a ‘robbery’, as well as the additional time in stoppages that saw Barca score the winning goal.

“In the corner, I saw that the referee whistled very quickly,” mused Tello today in response.

“It was clear. I saw a clear push on Alves. And the goal of Alexis, it was a very rapid play that began within the allotted time.”

Tello faced the media today after training and was asked once more on his relationship with Tata Martino and his role in the team this season.

“Martino is adding facets to our game that perhaps we lacked, so as not to be predictable.

“My relationship with him is very good, it is very close. He asked me to be focused all year and that I would not drop down if I do not play every minute that I would like.

“For now I have the confidence of the Coach and I do not plan on leaving. The Coach knows what we need and I believe that we are doing very well.

“Alexis, Pedro, Neymar and myself are all working for a place. It is very hard to play because we have the best players in the world, but you have to work.”
