Vicente Del Bosque has stressed that last weekend’s win over Finland was vital for World Cup qualification.
Spain won 2-0 in Helsinki last Friday to virtually book their place in Brazil next summer, and the Coach has revealed why the win was so important.
“I was obsessed with the Finland game because qualifying for the World Cup is important, and we have practically achieved it now,” he told El Opinador.
“At any time during the group stages can things become complicated and I was afraid of this complication.
“We have saved ourselves a moment of trouble for the draw against Finland, in winning in France, and here was the moment to preserve what we had achieved.
“Qualifying for the World Cup is very important, whilst it is true that it is not given the importance that it should be.”
