Torje: Adapting is an excuse

Gabriel Torje has explained his logic behind promising a quick adaptation to Espanyol and his hope to stay with the club for a few seasons.

The Romanian signed for Los Pericos from Udinese late in the summer transfer window in an initial season long-loan, with a purchase option included for next year.

“The process of adapting, to many players, is an excuse,” Torje affirmed at his presentation this week.

“If you are a good player then you have to adapt quickly and demonstrate everything to the fans.

“Footballers have to show that we want to win every game and for that you have to play with heart.

“All the player needs is confidence. Last year I was with Granada and at Espanyol this year I hope to do better and recover the tone I had whilst playing for Dinamo Bucharest.

“When I was called by Espanyol, I did not think for two seconds, they are an historic club. By the middle of the season I hope to have adapted, so as to then have two or three good campaigns here.

“I like the club and the team. I have seen them play and they could have more points than they currently do. On a personal level, I hope to do great things at Espanyol.”
