Bale in line for Madrid debut

Gareth Bale joined his Real Madrid teammates for Friday morning’s training, as Carlo Ancelotti confirms that he could debut this weekend against Villarreal.

Los Blancos travel out to El Madrigal with a few injury concerns but most attention on whether or not the €90m-€100m summer signing would be fit to feature in some capacity.

On from returning from international duty and a brief appearance for Wales on Tuesday night, the 24-year-old began a specialised fitness programme at Valdebebas predominantly away from his teammates.

However, in joining the main group for Friday morning’s session, Bale is reported as having trained normally and is seen as in contention to feature for Madrid this Saturday evening.

Carlo Ancelotti also confirmed after the session that Bale will travel and will feature, although not necessarily from the start.

Marcelo, Fabio Coentrao, Xabi Alonso and Raphael Varane continued recovery work on respective injuries, whilst Alvaro Arbeloa and Angel di Maria also continued individual training workouts.

However of this latter duo, Arbeloa is expected to be fit for the weekend, whilst Di Maria later rejoined the main group.
