Varane happy for recovery

Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane says he is very happy to have returned to working in training with a football after months recovering from knee surgery.

The young Frenchman was operated on in the final weeks of the season having suffered a torn meniscus whilst in action for his club in mid-May.

Whilst initially targeting a comeback during preseason, the player found the joint inflamed and it is only this week that he has returned to working with a ball on the pitch in training.

Even so, the centre-back is happy for this development, which marks the final stages of his recovery.

“I am very happy to return to training with the ball,” wrote Varane on his Facebook profile this week.

“Now I work to find a better feeling on the pitch before increasing the intensity throughout the week.”
