‘I want to convince Djukic’

Paco Alcacer has revealed his determination to win a regular spot in Valencia’s team by impressing Coach Miroslav Djukic.

The youngster is in contention with Helder Postiga, Jonas Goncalves and Dorlan Pabon for a spot in Los Che’s attack, which lost Roberto Soldado in the summer to Tottenham.

For the homegrown 20-year-old, this early season work represents an opportunity.

“What the Coach looks for is a forward to work, to have attitude and to score goals,” Alcacer reflected this week, having netted twice in Valencia’s recently friendly win over Real Valladolid.

“I have responded to this as I know how to. And with goals, which has given me confidence.

“[After a year with Getafe], I returned to Valencia in the summer with the utmost enthusiasm, attitude and responsibility to be more here.

“This week I stayed behind after training to practice my shooting, with Michel. Now I want to work every day to show the Coach that he can count on me and that if he puts his trust in me, I will return it.”
