Ronaldo deal ‘virtually agreed’

Negotiations between Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo over a new contract are reportedly ‘virtually closed’ and it could be confirmed inside two weeks.

The Portuguese has been seen as in on-off talks with President Florentino Perez over a new deal since last summer, although with a number of issues seeing progress stall on more than one occasion.

However, AS report that the capital club are close to finalising terms of a three-year extension, which would commit Ronaldo to the Santiago Bernabeu until June 2018.

Perez is believed keen to now absolutely close on the package offered to the 28-year-old, so as to confirm the news publicly before the club’s meeting with its partners on September 22.

Speculation in recent weeks has been that Ronaldo’s new deal will make him the best paid player in the world.
