Gracia grateful for Osasuna chance

Javi Gracia has been presented as Osasuna’s new Coach today and enthused at the team’s potential to get out of their current situation.

Gracia, native to the region of Pamplona, has been handed the reins at Osasuna in place of the departed Jose Luis Mendilibar.

After taking a first training session with the team currently bottom in La Liga after three defeats in the opening weeks, the 43-year-old faced the media.

“I come home and I’m proud to be coaching the team of in my country,” Gracia told reporters today.

“I am very grateful for this opportunity. I know the responsibility that I face and I assume it. This is a personal and professional challenge.

“I believe that the team is currently below its potential. I trust in the players that I have and that will be the basis of my work.

“We will try to be a balanced team. We have to be brave and aggressive to attack and defend.

“I see a lot of willingness to work and to make things right. That’s a good starting point.”
