Albiol: Crucial game for Spain

Raul Albiol has dismissed concern over Spain’s absentees this week, but also built up the need to defeat Finland on Friday.

La Roja head into that World Cup qualifying fixture with a number of notable players in defence and midfield missing.

However, as one man expected to step in as a replacement, Albiol is not worried that the team will suffer.

“There are absences that are significant, but Spain has many options to choose from,” began the centre-back to reporters today.

“And whilst we are without people who are at a high level, we have not noticed as there are very good replacements.

“All of us here are only thinking about winning, against Finland and even against Chile in the friendly next week.

“The Finland game is very important, whilst the August friendly was played with this match in mind. We know that only the three points are valuable because we are certain [Group I rivals] France will win.

“We know we will control the game, it is a crucial game for us.”
