Diego Simeone praised his Atletico Madrid side for their performance in taking the three points away from Real Sociedad on Sunday.
Atleti saw goals from David Villa and Koke enough to secure a win at Anoeta in Week 3, despite Xabi Prieto’s second-half strike and a late resurgence from the hosts.
The win has maintained Los Colchoneros’ 100 per cent start to the season, much to their Coach’s delight.
“You always hope for the best and work towards that,” Simeone considered afterwards.
“We have had very tough opponents, especially the two away from home. At a major moment in the game we lost attention and conceded a goal.
“And we could have complicated the result in a performance that was otherwise very complete.
“I’m leaving here with that feeling, that we have responded very well in a difficult game.
“From their goal they have dominated. La Real are a team that has grown a lot, who have great players, with young people and we knew we could suffer.
“They will be competing for the top places this year.
“Our good start? If we don’t do this in the next game these are just numbers. We continue to go from game to game.
“The triumph in Anoeta is positive but this is behind us and now we’re preparing for the next game.”
