Emery laments big-name departures

Unai Emery has conceded that the departures of Geoffrey Kondogbia and Gary Medel have hampered their start to the season.

The Rojiblancos have claimed just one point from six so far this term, and the Coach has admitted that they need a win this weekend against Malaga.

“They were unexpected departures,” he told a Press conference. “They were important players for us – the lungs of the team defensively and offensively.

“Malaga will be hard to break down. They lost against Barcelona and Valencia, but played well in both games.

“Nevertheless, I hope my players call upon their skills and get a win.

“I’m happy with what we’ve done so far.

“I expect an intense, dynamic and aggressive game.”
